It's planned, not shipped — an opt-in mode for the moments a phone alone can't match, like command mode, multi-device sync and premium languages. It stays off by default: nothing about your dictation changes unless you turn it on, and we'll disclose exactly what leaves your device before you do. Pricing will be announced closer to launch, in rupees.

By default the floating mic inserts your text using an Android accessibility service, which reads the field you're actively dictating into — locally, to place your words there — and nothing else on the screen. The keyboard route reads the field type you're typing into (search, email, password) and, where it improves accuracy, nearby text, the same way. Either way it's on-device only: that reading is used to help the recognizer and to insert your text, never stored, logged, or sent anywhere. Password and other secure fields are a hard boundary on both surfaces: betterflo doesn't read or act on those, and dictation still works there — nothing about them is remembered.

Both. It is a full keyboard — a normal key grid with word suggestions — and the mic sits beside the space bar, so dictating is one key rather than the whole point of it. It can also tidy, re-tone, rewrite or translate what is in the field, and that work happens on your phone. Two honest limits: rewriting needs a small model you download first, and the smallest phones do not get it at all — betterflo does not draw a button it cannot honour. Translating is available on every phone it supports.

Yes — two. "Display over other apps" so the mic bubble can appear on top of what you're using, and an Android accessibility service so it can insert your dictated text into the field you're focused on. You'll see a plain-language disclosure before that second one is ever requested, and you can decline it. Prefer not to grant it at all? The betterflo keyboard is a complete alternative that needs neither.

There's no single cutoff. betterflo tiers by what a device can actually do — RAM and CPU headroom — rather than a hard Android-version wall, so real on-device dictation reaches budget phones as well as flagships. See exactly what each tier gets — on the lowest tier that's English only, not every language; if a device genuinely can't run local recognition, the app says so rather than failing silently.

Names, terms and phrases you use often, so betterflo gets them right more consistently. It lives on your device, encrypted at rest, and isn't uploaded to a server by default. It follows the retention choices you set — and if multi-device sync ever ships, carrying it across your devices will be something you opt into, not something that happens automatically.
